The Travel Type’s Virginia Beach Stays For Every Personality

Virginia Beach is a lovely resort town boasting a little bit of everything sure to fit any personality. The Travel Type shared a great post with tips on visiting Virginia Beach for every personality and “penny pincher” is one of them! You could of course go with the splurger or the family fan, but I definitely wanted to share this post for the frugal travel tip!

Cheap & Chic Hotels (3)

“Known as the longest pleasure beach in the world, Virginia Beach’s oceanfront stretches for miles down the Atlantic coast. The largest city in the state, Virginia Beach is a resort town popular with surfers, sun seekers, and ocean lovers.

With hundreds of hotels to choose from, there’s a hotel to suit every personality in Virginia Beach. Match yourself to the travel type below to find your ideal Virginia Beach stay.

The Family Fan

At the Surfside Oceanfront Inn and Suites, the Virginia Beach Boardwalk is literally right outside the front door, so you’ll hardly have any downtime when getting the little ones to the ocean. If they’re not into the ocean, the inn has a designated Kiddie Pool so adults are separated from splashes (and ill-timed cannonball jumps).

Take advantage of the complimentary breakfast before going to fish off the nearby Virginia Beach Fishing Pier, or walk a little farther to check out the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center.

The Penny Pincher

The cheapest hotels aren’t on the beach (naturally) but if you’re on a budget you can still find a reasonably priced place to stay and enjoy an ocean view. It’s called the Beach Quarters Resort, and every condo in the complex includes an oceanfront balcony.

Compare this resort to others on the beach strip and you’ll find it doesn’t lack amenities or swankiness. Book your room on a weekday to get the best rate at this reasonably priced beach resort.

The Splurger

If you plan to indulge during your Virginia Beach vacation and you’re a fan of old school luxury, get to the elegant Founders Inn and Spa. This place takes it back in time with a Colonial garden, and takes luxury to another level with fireplace suites (yes, a fireplace at a beach resort).

Since this hotel has “spa” in its name, you’d be remiss if you didn’t try a sacred stone massage, a detoxifying seaweed wrap, or at least a manicure during your stay. Along with the spa service you get access to the fitness center and heated indoor pool (in case the spa was a little too relaxing).

The Water Sports Enthusiast

Obviously, staying close to the water is an advantage if you want to fit as many water sports as possible into your vacation. At the Barclay Towers Resort you’ll be right beside the beach, with access to plenty of activities.

Try parasailing, rent a jet ski, go boating, or just enjoy the beach. The suites in Barclay Towers include fully equipped kitchens, so you can make your own meals whenever you return from your adventures.

The Lover of Surprises

The beach is never the same two days in a row, and Virginia Beach’s hotels can change almost as quickly. If you planned to stay at the Grand Ocean Hotel this year, you missed your chance – it’s reopening in April 2016 as theSurfbreak Oceanfront Hotel. The new hotel is being renovated and updated, with rooms and décor inspired by nearby attractions like the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier.

Like surprises? You could be one of the first to lay eyes on the rooms at the newly opened Surfbreak Oceanfront Hotel.”
