[dropcap]T[/dropcap]oday I’ll be reviewing the Clever Chef Baking Mat.
Right away, I really liked the packaging. Super cute! I really hoped the baking mat would match in some way.
When you first take it out of the package, the plastic casing is a little sticky. You almost have to rip it off.
But the really neat thing is that even though the baking mat was rolled up in the box, it didn’t leave the edges curled. I laid it out on the table and it went almost completely flat right away. I hate when baking mats curl up on the edge because they are poorly made.
Once the packaging was removed, I noticed that the baking mat felt a little sticky. But it was a good feel. Almost like window clings. When I prepared the dough on the counter, I used it and it stayed put. Much better than using wax paper to knead on!
The mat is very cute! Same colors as what you see on the box. There are handy guides to make sure you’re spreading your cookies out when baking, and also measurements along the sides. It held up well for baking cookies. And I will continue to use this in place of aluminum foil or wax paper. Especially when I need to work dough on a counter top.
The only negative I found was that the measurements weren’t perfectly aligned on one side. As you can see below.
This would make a great gift for a cook of any level. Beginners will appreciate the guides and how easy it is to use and clean. More experienced cooks will appreciate the built in measurements and heavy duty feel. Overall, this is a very nice baking mat.
