How to Unwind when you Have Had a Busy Day At Work

Do you feel as though you are constantly busy at work? Maybe you feel as though sometimes, life just gets too stressful and you need to find ways to unwind without compromising your routine. Either way, this guide will help you to find out what changes you need to make, so you can go into tomorrow feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

Drink some Green Tea

Green tea is the best go-to beverage for when you need a bit of time to yourself. The great thing about green tea is that it can give you a pleasant and calming experience, but it has a range of other benefits to offer as well. Green tea contains a lot of L-Theanine, and this has been scientifically proven to reduce feelings of anxiety and anger. So, instead of reaching for a cup of coffee the next time you feel a bit tense, try some green tea. If you do, you will soon find that you feel better.

Chew some Gum

Gum keeps you feeling nice and fresh when you are on the go. That being said, gum can also reduce your stress levels quite a lot. Chewing gum can be quite therapeutic and it can also reduce anxiety. Another benefit of chewing gum is that it can lower your cortisol levels, which is the hormone that causes you to experience stress, which can have a detrimental impact on your health over time.

Give Yourself a Massage

Believe it or not, rubbing your hands together can alleviate stress. It can bring on a sense of calm as well. If you want to help yourself here then gently massage the pad just underneath the thumb. If you want to take things to that next level then you can use lotion that has a calming scent. Lavender is great here, so make sure that you keep that in mind.

Meditate

If you speak to anyone who meditates on a regular basis then you may notice how relaxed they are. When you think of meditation, you probably picture someone sitting in a dark room for hours on end without moving a single muscle. That being said, five minutes of peace is sometimes all you need to get your stress levels down. Habitual meditation gives you the chance to be more mindful overall and it is ideal for lowering feelings of depression. If depression is something you know you struggle with, then now could be the best time for you to check yourself in for inpatient depression treatment.

Use a Stress Ball

The stress balls you see when you visit novelty shops do work. Squeezing one is a way for you to progressively relax because you will be relieving the tension in your muscles. If you want to make the most out of your relaxation efforts then why not combine the use of a stress ball with meditation? If you can do this then you will soon find that the negative energy transfers out of your body, to your hands.

Visualise Calm

If you want to relieve stress when at work then one thing you can do is try and practice visualisation. Think about lying on a beach as the waves roll up the sand, and think about the wind gently blowing on your face. If you can dedicate your thoughts and if you can focus on how you feel then you will soon find that you are able to unwind and that the stress melts away.

Get Out

Being able to relax often comes down to knowing when the best time is to exit a bad situation. If you can feel your blood boiling to the point where you are going to start acting emotionally then you need to move away from the stimulus that is causing you to experience such stress. Try and go for a quick walk or even take the time to collect your thoughts. You can then come back with a fresh mind so you can deal with whatever comes your way.

Get Organised

If you are feeling a little stressed out then take a look at your place of work, along with your living area. If you notice that everything is a complete mess then try and do something about it. Decluttering your surroundings is the best way for you to drastically improve your mood and you may even find that it helps you to be much more productive overall. This is a great way for you to boost your work performance too, so if this is an issue, make sure you take the time to organise your space and make a positive change.
