Ever wished you could get out more? See more concerts? Attend more sporting events? But you just can’t afford it?
Well here’s your chance to keep under budget while still getting out. And by getting out, I mean a lot of getting out.
Why use seat fillers
It’s a little-known fact that many shows and events have empty seats they don’t want to remain empty. Maybe it’s the opening night of show or maybe they just didn’t sell as many tickets as expected. They want those seats filled! It helps with the overall feel of the event, with PR and enhances the experience.
What is a seat filler
Enter seat fillers programs.
Seat filler
A seat filler is a person who fills in an empty seat during an event.
These types of programs have benefits to different parties. As a seat filler, one can see a variety of shows for no cost to a nominal member fee. As a venue, organizers can ensure a more beneficial experience by having a full house.
Who can be a seat filler
My husband and I are testing out one such service in Pittsburgh, SeatStir. I am not being compensated for this post, I just have had such a great experience, I wanted to share because anyone can be a seat filler.
We discovered the seat filler program via a Groupon deal, $24 for a 6 month unlimited membership for 2. Meaning we could reserve two tickets per event for an unlimited number of events. Just booking one even would get our money’s worth, so I knew it was a great deal.
How to be a seat filler
The process was simple. Just set up an account on SeatStir with some basic information. Then browse the available events for tickets. At the time of this posting, there were several concerts available, a few sporting events, a party and a theater show. A really nice variety of things! We attended a live Improv show at a local place. You just click to reserve and then print the ticket. On the day of the show, arrive early and present your ticket and ID and that’s it! You’re in!
Each event has details on the attire or venue so you can plan accordingly. Like for instance, the party required special attire but the event we attended was casual. It was so helpful to have that information provided up front.
There is a strict no show policy, so make sure you only request tickets you’ll actually use. The membership is to fill seats, not leave them empty! And your membership will be revoked. Serious no no.
The Groupon deal is down now, so the price is back to $8 per month or $48 for 6 months. Still a great deal! You can go to SeatFiller here to read more information and sign up.

April 17, 2017 at 11:17 amUnfortunately, my experience was not the greatest, bought this through LivingSocial and the venues in NY are very limited ( one unknown show) many comedy and other out of NYC. In 2 months have not seen one show that is worth, so paid my subscription for nothing, I thought that the site will present with more than one broadway show, two comedy and other ???, If you are into comedy clubs ( you can get in for free, just by walking by the venue, as they need to fill the place and need people to laugh) than you are in

January 12, 2016 at 9:30 amSuch a fun experience. When I worked at the Studios in Burbank, I used to watch live recordings of tv shows whenever friends would visit from out of town. It was always so much fun to see performances live and in person.
